Phone In Survey Results

The 2010 survey response was quite disappointing with just under 100 koala sightings reported over the phone-in survey weekend of October 23 and 24.
Whilst koalas were sighted in most areas of the Redlands, overall figures in each suburb were down from previous years and unfortunately no sightings were received from the Redland Bay area.
The survey endeavours to provide an assessment of where koalas are distributed. It does not equate to the precise number of koalas in any given area, but it does help establish trends. It is also an opportunity to gain feedback from residents about their neighbourhood koalas.
KAG will be interested in the results obtained from the koala research surveys that are currently being undertaken by Department of Environment and Resource Management who have been monitoring the Koala Coast koala population for approximately the past 15 years. These surveys will give a more accurate insight into the actual numbers of koalas living in various areas of the Redlands.
